Registered Crypto Platforms in Canada (2026)
By ForexCanada Editorial Team · Updated
Since 2023, crypto trading platforms serving Canadians have had to register with (or give pre-registration undertakings to) Canadian securities regulators. Several global exchanges — including Binance and Bybit — left Canada rather than comply. The platforms below are on the CSA's list of authorized crypto trading platforms.
Two points often misunderstood: CIPF does not cover crypto assets, even at a CIRO member; and for most coins other than bitcoin, ether, litecoin and bitcoin cash, regulators limit non-eligible investors to $30,000 of net purchases in 12 months.

Wealthsimple
CIRO-registeredBest for: New investors who want a simple app for TFSA/FHSA investing, plus regulated crypto
Wealthsimple turned commission-free investing into the default for a generation of Canadian investors, and its app remains the simplest way to open a TFSA, RRSP or FHSA and start buying ETFs. It combines self-directed trading, managed portfolios, cash accounts and a CSA-registered crypto platform under one login. The trade-offs are depth and currency costs: there is no desktop trading platform with advanced charting, options and research tools are basic, and buying U.S. stocks in a CAD account triggers a currency conversion fee unless you are on a tier that includes USD accounts.
