Our take on KuCoin
KuCoin is an offshore exchange known for listing many small tokens. Ontario regulators took enforcement action against it in 2022, and it is not an authorized crypto trading platform anywhere in Canada.
Beyond the 2022 Ontario enforcement action, KuCoin has faced regulatory action in several countries over registration and anti-money-laundering controls. The practical lesson for Canadians: a huge coin list is not a substitute for regulatory standing. If an obscure token is only available on unregistered exchanges, that's itself a risk signal.

Is KuCoin regulated in Canada?
No. KuCoin is not registered with CIRO or any provincial or territorial securities regulator. Canadian protections such as CIPF coverage and OBSI complaint handling do not apply.
Can Canadians open an account with KuCoin?
No. At our last check KuCoin did not accept Canadian residents. Using a VPN or false address to get around this breaches the broker's terms and can put your funds at risk.
