Our take on Newton
Newton is a Toronto-based crypto platform that markets 'no commission' trading — the cost is in the spread instead. It supports a reasonable coin list and easy CAD funding, and it registered as a crypto trading platform in 2025.
Newton's 'no commission' message is accurate but incomplete: like other spread-based platforms, you pay through the difference between the buy and sell price. For small, occasional purchases that's convenient; for larger amounts, compare the effective price you're quoted with an order-book exchange at the same moment. Newton supports a respectable coin list and is well regarded for fast Interac funding and withdrawals.
Verdict
Clean and convenient; compare the effective spread with order-book exchanges.

How Newton scores
Canadian protection carries 40% of the weight, so an unregistered firm can't outrank a registered one on price alone. See the full methodology.
