Privacy policy

By ForexCanada Editorial Team · Updated

This policy explains what personal information ForexCanada.ca collects and how we use it, in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial laws, including Québec's Law 25.

What we collect

  • Newsletter: your email address and the page where you signed up.
  • Contact and scam-report forms: the details you choose to provide (name, email, message, and for scam reports the firm name, website and optional amount/province).
  • Reader reviews: name or initials, optional email (never published), province, rating and review text.
  • Outbound link clicks: when you click a "Visit site" link we record the broker, the page you came from, the time, and a one-way hashed identifier derived from your IP address and browser. We never store raw IP addresses.
  • Calculators: everything you type into our calculators stays in your browser. We don't store it.

We don't use advertising trackers. If analytics are enabled on this site, they're configured to avoid collecting identifiable personal information.

How we use it

To send the newsletter you requested, reply to messages, moderate and publish reviews, investigate scam reports, prevent spam and abuse (rate-limiting uses the hashed identifier), and understand which broker pages readers find useful.

Sharing

We don't sell personal information. We may share scam-report details with regulators or law enforcement where we believe it will help protect the public; we'll remove your contact details unless you've agreed otherwise. Service providers that host the site process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.

Retention

Newsletter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. Messages and reviews are kept as long as needed for their purpose. Click records are kept in aggregate form.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or withdraw consent, by emailing [email protected]. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Québec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.

Cookies

We use a strictly necessary cookie for the site administrator login. We don't set advertising cookies. Brokers you visit through our links set their own cookies under their own policies.
