Is Saxo Available in Canada? (2026 Check)
By ForexCanada Editorial Team · Updated
Canada check
Saxo holds licences outside Canada but is not registered with CIRO or any provincial securities regulator. If it accepts you, your account will normally be opened with an offshore group entity rather than its better-regulated subsidiaries — so CIPF coverage, CIRO margin rules and OBSI complaint handling do not apply. Saxo does not open accounts directly for Canadian residents.

Our take on Saxo
Saxo is a Danish bank and multi-asset broker with an excellent SaxoTraderGO/PRO platform suite. It does not onboard Canadian residents directly. Canadians who want a similar multi-asset experience typically use Interactive Brokers Canada.
Saxo is a licensed bank known for its SaxoTraderGO and SaxoTraderPRO platforms and a huge multi-asset offer spanning forex, stocks, bonds, options and futures. Canadians can't open accounts directly with Saxo. Interactive Brokers Canada is the closest registered alternative for multi-asset traders.
Verdict

How Saxo scores
Canadian protection carries 40% of the weight, so an unregistered firm can't outrank a registered one on price alone. See the full methodology.

Verify Saxo yourself
- Look for the firm on CIRO's list of dealers it regulates.
- Search the legal entity name in the CSA National Registration Search and check it is registered in your province.
- Confirm CIPF membership in the CIPF member directory.
- Search the CSA investor alerts for the brand name and any look-alike websites.
- Make sure the account agreement you sign names the same legal entity — not an offshore affiliate.

Saxo: frequently asked questions
Is Saxo regulated in Canada?
No. Saxo is not registered with CIRO or any provincial or territorial securities regulator, although it holds licences elsewhere (United Kingdom, Switzerland, Singapore, Australia, Japan). Canadian protections such as CIPF coverage and OBSI complaint handling do not apply.
Can Canadians open an account with Saxo?
No. At our last check Saxo did not accept Canadian residents. Using a VPN or false address to get around this breaches the broker's terms and can put your funds at risk.
