Octa (OctaFX) Canada Review: Is It Regulated in Canada?

Not registered in CanadaCanadian eligibility unconfirmed

By ForexCanada Editorial Team · Updated

Canada check

Octa (OctaFX) holds licences outside Canada but is not registered with CIRO or any provincial securities regulator. If it accepts you, your account will normally be opened with an offshore group entity rather than its better-regulated subsidiaries — so CIPF coverage, CIRO margin rules and OBSI complaint handling do not apply. We could not confirm that it currently accepts Canadian residents — check its restricted-countries list before applying.

Our take on Octa (OctaFX)

Octa is a MetaTrader broker with a large Asian client base. Canadians would be onboarded through its Mwali (Comoros) entity, one of the lightest-touch licensing regimes in the industry. The previous version of this site flagged reader reports of slow payments. It is not registered in Canada.

Octa emphasises simple accounts with no commissions and markets heavily through social media and trading contests in Asia. Canadians would have no Canadian regulatory protection with its offshore entity, and it doesn't offer anything a CIRO-registered dealer can't provide more safely.

Verdict

Not recommended — regulated alternatives are easy to find.
