FXCC Canada Review: Is It Regulated in Canada?
By ForexCanada Editorial Team · Updated
Canada check
FXCC holds licences outside Canada but is not registered with CIRO or any provincial securities regulator. If it accepts you, your account will normally be opened with an offshore group entity rather than its better-regulated subsidiaries — so CIPF coverage, CIRO margin rules and OBSI complaint handling do not apply. At our last check FXCC accepted Canadian residents through its international (non-EU) entity, not the CySEC-licensed company.

Our take on FXCC
FXCC is a Cyprus-based broker offering an ECN-style MetaTrader account with no separate commission and no minimum deposit. Its EU company is licensed by CySEC, but Canadians are not served by that entity — they are onboarded through the group's international arm, which is regulated far more lightly. FXCC topped this site's rankings in the past; under our current methodology, which puts Canadian protection first, it ranks below every CIRO-registered dealer. It remains a reasonable offshore option for experienced traders who understand what they are giving up.
Verdict
Competitive pricing and a straightforward MT4 set-up, but not a substitute for a CIRO-registered account. Keep deposits modest if you use it.
What we like
- +No commission on ECN XL account
- +No minimum deposit
- +Focused MetaTrader offer
Watch out for
- −Canadians are served by a lightly regulated offshore entity
- −Narrow product range beyond forex
- −Not registered in Canada — no CIPF, CIRO or OBSI protection
How FXCC scores
Canadian protection carries 40% of the weight, so an unregistered firm can't outrank a registered one on price alone. See the full methodology.
