Our take on Moomoo Canada

Moomoo Canada is the Canadian arm of NASDAQ-listed Futu Holdings. Its app is aimed at active retail traders, with detailed charts, Level 2 data, options chains and a busy social feed. It offers TFSA and RRSP accounts and USD accounts. Pricing is low but check the current schedule and the fine print on promotions.

Moomoo's app is built for people who want data: Level 2 quotes, institutional-flow indicators, options analytics and a social community inside one interface. Its parent, Futu, is a large NASDAQ-listed broker in Asia. Newer Canadian investors should resist the busy interface's pull towards frequent trading — and remember that frequent trading in a TFSA can create tax problems.

Verdict

Feature-rich app for active stock and options traders; less suited to hands-off investors.
