The TSX and TSX Venture Exchange are closed on these dates. In 2026, the only scheduled early close is Christmas Eve, Thursday December 24, when trading ends at 1:00 p.m. ET. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (September 30) is not a trading holiday — markets are open, but there is no settlement that day.

Do Canadian holidays close the forex market?
No. The currency market is global and runs from Sunday 5 p.m. to Friday 5 p.m. Eastern Time regardless of Canadian holidays. What changes is liquidity: when Canadian banks are closed, fewer participants trade CAD pairs, so spreads on USD/CAD, EUR/CAD and CAD/JPY can widen and moves can be erratic. U.S. holidays such as Thanksgiving and Independence Day have a bigger effect because the U.S. dollar is on one side of most trades.

Liquidity is thin across all markets between December 24 and January 2. Many traders simply stop. If you hold positions, widen your risk assumptions and check your broker's holiday trading hours, which are usually published in early December.See the live forex market hours clock for session times in your province.
Is the TSX open on Remembrance Day?
Yes. November 11 is not a TSX trading holiday.
Is the TSX open on Easter Monday?
Yes. Good Friday is a market holiday; Easter Monday is a normal trading day on the TSX.
Is the stock market open on Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day?
Yes. June 24 is a statutory holiday in Québec but the TSX remains open.
