NinjaTrader Canada Review: Is It Regulated in Canada?

Not registered in CanadaCanadian eligibility unconfirmed

By ForexCanada Editorial Team · Updated

Canada check

Not registered as a dealer in Canada as far as we can find in the CSA National Registration Search. Some U.S. futures brokers accept Canadian residents; availability and the legal basis differ by province, so confirm directly. If you want Canadian protections (CIRO oversight, CIPF, OBSI), use a Canadian futures dealer such as Interactive Brokers Canada.

Our take on NinjaTrader

NinjaTrader is a U.S. futures broker and trading platform popular with day traders for its charting, order-flow tools and C#-based automation (NinjaScript). It became part of Kraken in 2025. It is regulated in the U.S. by the CFTC and NFA, not in Canada. Many Canadians use the NinjaTrader platform software with a separate broker connection.

Verdict

Excellent futures software. For a Canadian-regulated futures account, compare Interactive Brokers Canada.

What we like

Verify NinjaTrader yourself

  1. Look for the firm on CIRO's list of dealers it regulates.
  2. Search the legal entity name in the CSA National Registration Search and check it is registered in your province.
  3. Confirm CIPF membership in the CIPF member directory.
  4. Search the CSA investor alerts for the brand name and any look-alike websites.
  5. Make sure the account agreement you sign names the same legal entity — not an offshore affiliate.

NinjaTrader: frequently asked questions

Is NinjaTrader regulated in Canada?

No. NinjaTrader is not registered with CIRO or any provincial or territorial securities regulator, although it holds licences elsewhere (United States). Canadian protections such as CIPF coverage and OBSI complaint handling do not apply.

Can Canadians open an account with NinjaTrader?

We could not confirm this. Check NinjaTrader's restricted-countries list and account-opening terms, and remember that even if it accepts you, you won't have Canadian regulatory protection.
